Lecture on the water situation in Gagaab area in Somalia
On 10 January, Mursal Ismail will lecture on the water situation in Gagaab area in Somalia. The lecture will take place in Borlänge.
More information and pictures from the lecture will be added at a later date.
Together we can improve people’s living conditions.
Water has led to initiate training activities
Education financed by both ABF and Lions DG101. The school is located in Beeli Wacatay. The aim of education is to give the children an opportunity to learn to read and write. Another purpose is that adults are able to read in the evenings. This is called public education.
To make the evening classes possible there are plans on installing solar panels on the roof of the school. Then the villagers have the opportunity to use the school several hours a day.
Appreciated lecture on water project in Somalia
On January 10, 2012, 14:00 pm a lecture was held in Pingstkyrkan in central Borlänge. The documentary was shown and the audience enjoyed to hear about the situation.
Kim Alvelius, Monika Björk and Mursal Ismail Isa were present while Mursal spoke about the water situation in Somalia.
Monika sold greeting cards for 10 kr that goes unabridged to the waterproject and Pingstkyrkan decided to contribute 2000kr.

Very successful water drilling in the Garowe, Puntland
One of the sites identified by the project has been drilled by the administration of Puntland. The site that has been drilled is in Garowe, the capital of Puntland. The information has been confirmed by the Finance Minister in Puntland.
The minister showed his gratitude from the government and people of Puntland. It’s an important signal that encourages the search for funds to drill the other locations, especially in the smaller villages. The places that are situated outside the big cities and do not have own possibilities for financing.
Meeting with Lions Somalia project group
Meeting with Lions Somalia project team and an editor of the Lions club magazine. Local Borlänge Association wishes to start and run a Somalia project in partnership with Lions International. They must investigate for driving clean water, measles vaccination, vision care, prenatal care and energy on the spot.
Meeting with the Development Affairs
Birger Fogdestam met with Secretary of Development Affairs. Birger and the Secretary discussed the water project in Somalia and the result of water exploration carried out in summer 2011.
Department Secretary saw the films produced both before and during the project’s early exploration and became very interested in this work. Department Secretary will eventually get in touch regarding the current project.
Another water drilling has successfully been completed in Puntland
Another water drilling has successfully been completed in the town of Armo. And that the well is now used for water supply to residents. The wells drilled after completion of the VLF survey in summer 2011 in Puntland.
A well of water in the villages of Humbays and Hiriiro are also planned to be drilled in the near future.
